survey2 Ethics Survey Instructions
Today we will use what we've learned about responsible and ethical use of technology to put together a schoolwide survey with two purposes:

1.  To find out how much our Pizitz students know about ethics and responsible use of technology.

2.  To create awareness of how to be an ethical and responsible technology user.

How will we do it?
1.  Use the Ethics Study Sheet link on this page to read over the study sheet.  Also, use the useful links at the bottom of the page to find ideas for your survey questions.  Note that there are some new links.

2. Assign duties for your group.
-One person should be the typist.  They should open Word and save a document to their directory named Survey### (### is login code).  This document will be used to type in your survey questions and possible responses.
-Others in the group should choose links to research to help find possible survey questions and statements.
-One group member should be assigned to watch the time to make sure you use it efficiently.

3.  Remember to save your document frequently.

4.  We will get together as a class after the groups meet so that we can share questions and decide on the best questions for the survey.

5.  The combined class survey will be published on the web.

6.  Your group should also come up with ideas for how we will get the most people to take the survey.

7.  After we get the survey results we will use them to create an educational campaign to increase the responsible and ethical use of technology in our community.

8.  Once our results are back, we will use e-mail to correspond with other schools to get them to take our survey and compare results.

9. The results will help us to spread the word about ethical use of technology.  We will use Paint and PowerPoint in future class sessions to create ethical pictures and messages.

So, you can see your survey is going to have lots of positive results so work hard and come up with some good questions that will find out how much students already know and will make them aware of right and wrong.  Good Luck!

*Note:  You may want to look back at the top of this page for the purposes of the survey.   Ideas for survey questions might include:
-Find out what types of people are taking the survey (but don't ask for a name)
-Have they ever copied software?
-Have they ever used other's information and said it was their own?
-Do they know the rules about backup copies?
